Getting To Know Us . . .
Riverside Elementary serves approximately 370 students between the grades of Kindergarten and 5th grade. Riverside Elementary School is dedicated to the development of the whole child. Our close-knit staff works collaboratively with parents and each other to ensure successful student learning in the classroom and community. Our mission of "Learning for all, whatever it takes" keeps us focused on our singular goal of making sure every child is proficient in reading, writing and mathematics. More specifically, our work for the 2016-17 school year will center around our building action plans.

Our literacy and math plans are focused on making sure that each student reaches their individual growth targets as set by our Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) testing. †Our Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports goal team continues to set goals to decrease the amount of office discipline referrals in targeted areas. †Due to their efforts, we were again named a PBIS†School of Distinction by the Wisconsin PBIS Network for the 2nd year in a row. † The Riverside staff is dedicated to continuous improvement through our quarterly planning process.

The belief that each child is unique and should be proficient in reading, writing and mathematics serves as the foundation for our educational program. In order to meet each studentís particular learning needs, teachers take into consideration the individual needs of each student and plan lessons that use a variety of instructional strategies and materials. Our staff provides a high quality education which enables students to develop mastery on each grade level's essential skills as determined by our district and state standards. Our daily schedule at Riverside remains flexible to provide our learners with the added time and support they may need for both intervention and enrichment.

All Riverside, all students have the opportunity to learn the core curriculum. The core subjects of Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies as well as special classes in Physical Education, Art, Music, Library, Physical Education and Guidance are key components of the educational program for all students. Technology is woven throughout the curriculum to enhance learning for all of our students. Our core educational program is combined with a safe and orderly learning environment and a formal Character Education to form a well-rounded elementary education for each of our students. In addition, compensatory and enrichment services are provided by a support staff of certified teachers for students that qualify for this form of assistance.

Our Three 4 Me program is a formal family involvement program in which families pledge 3 hours of their time during the school year to help our students. The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction states that one of the hallmarks of a successful school is 33% parent involvement. We would like to see our percentage of family pledges and hours increase. If you would like more information, we would be happy to meet with you. It is a great and easy opportunity for you to get involved!

At Riverside, we promote college readiness for all of our students beginning in Kindergarten. College readiness is the idea that every student deserves the opportunity to be educated in a way that prepares him or her for college if he or she chooses to attend. This involves every classroom and staff member at Riverside being associated with a specific university and the students and classroom forming partnerships with those universities throughout the year. We are college-bound!
